Chatterjee wins school open chess title

Hara Prasad Chatterjee emerged champion in the State Schools Open Chess Tournament, garnering seven points out of a possible eight at Odisha Secretariat Recreation Club (OSRC) here today. Swapnil Priyadarshi and Jagadish Kumar Ghadai finished second and third respectively with 6.5 points each.

Altogether 63 players from 14 schools participated in the three-day tournament, which was organised by Orissa State Chess Association (OSCA). OSRC general secretary Managobinda Dalai handed over the prizes in the presence of Balasore Irrigation Circle Executive Engineer RajKishore Ghadai, OSCA vice-president Arati Bijoy Mohanty, joint-secretary Sitendu Rajguru and chief arbiter Debasis Panigrahi.

FINAL STANDINGS (Top 10): 1. Hara P Chatterjee (7), 2-3: Swapnil Priyadarshi, Jagadish Kumar Ghadai (each 6.5); 4-9: Sumit Kumar, Anshuman Nanda, Chayan Gartia, Tarini P Nayak, Asvin Abhinabas, Piyush Kumar Chinara (6 each); 10. Amrutanshu Mohapatra (5.5).
